There was huge hue and cry over the air pollution because of fireworks on Diwali. It is really a serious problem that the whole world is facing. The quality of air is degrading day by day. We must stop fireworks at all on the only occasion of the year when we do fireworks because it really plays an important role in polluting the air for whole year.  However, the pollution from the vehicles, pollution from construction works, pollution from chemical industries, pollution because the developed countries have contributed a lot to destroy the forests and rivers do not matter at all.

India has a low per capita emissions of greenhouse gases but the country as a whole is the third largest after China and the United States. A 2013 study on non-smokers has found that Indians have 30% lower lung function compared to Europeans. In autumn and winter months, large scale crop residue burning in agriculture fields – a low cost alternative to mechanical tilling – is a major source of smoke, smog and particulate pollution. Of all of pollutants, fine particulate matter has the greatest impact on health. A lot of the fine particulate matter comes from fuel combustion, both from mobile sources such as vehicles and from stationary sources such as power plants, industry, households or biomass burning. However, despite of all these facts, pollution on Diwali caused by fireworks is the biggest concern.

After ruining all our forests and taking no initiative to help growing more plants, we want everything to be all right. No nation is serious about directing industries or close such industries that are mainly responsible for the air pollution. In the hunger of earning more and more profit and because of their self-centered interests, every nation is demolishing forests everyday. These countries are polluting air, earth, water and even space but they won’t talk about that since it may disturb the businessmen who pay huge money to the leaders of the world. In spite of stopping those big guns, these morons including media and leaders are targeting these small entrepreneurs who earn their livelihood by manufacturing and selling crackers. Since these SMEs cannot pay huge money to these hungry leaders, they are targeted by these morons. Toothpastes, hand wash, powders have the chemical that causes cancer but no media channel is ready to talk about that since these businessmen have put a bundle of money in the mouths of these news agents like an owner puts a piece of bone in the mouth of his dog.

This is all fake and just a false hue and cry over the pollution on Diwali because of fireworks. Though I agree that pollution level has increased to really a dangerous level this Diwali and we all should act towards stopping the air pollution but this all can be done only when we and the government will become more serious and committed to curb the pollution level. There must policies, plans and laws to kill the demon named pollution.

We have ruined a big green belt area in Noida, Delhi, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Lucknow, Bangalore and at many more places for building, railway and metro stations, roads and flyovers. Just demolish those constructions and start planting plants and trees in place of them if we really care about pollution. Stop commuting by private vehicles and in stead start using public transport. Stop using ACs, fridges and other items that contribute to air pollution. Is it possible? No, not at all. The whole system is responsible for this air pollution not only Diwali.

It is not only this single day that contributes to the air pollution but several such days that help to increase air pollution. Though I agree that firework must be sensible enough to keep the tradition alive and without harming the nature.

It can be possible only when we shall start focusing on other options as well. In place of using coals for various purposes we’ll have to look for clean energy. There must be policies and plans to curb the pollution because of construction work. There must be a plane and law so that public is forced to use public transport in place of private transport. However, just blaming a single day for miserable air condition is really foolish and half truth.
