Though Russia went against its own decision to cancel joint military exercise between Russia and Pakistan and there were news about the joint miltary exercise between Russia and Pakistan, it has again stated that it did not cancel military exercise with Pakistan but it will not be held in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Russia’s state-run Tass news agency reported on Friday the opening ceremony of joint military exercis would be held at the ‘Pakistan Army’s High Altitude School in Rattu, Gilgit-Baltistan” on Saturday. A statement issued late on Friday night by the Russian embassy in New Delhi, however, said the “only venue of the exercise is Cherat” in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.

India had conveyed to Russia its concerns that part of the joint drill would be held at a military facility in Gilgit-Baltistan, which was part of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir state that is an integral part of India.
